The industry internship takes up one full semester of the programme and involves placement in industry. Duration of the internship is for 400 hours (10 weeks / 1 semester). Interns will be mentored and supported by the employer and by their University supervisor, as they work on a real-world problem in an industry setting. The interns are treated as staff members of the organisation they are working in. This is a paid internship, the employer provides a scholarship of $5,500 + GST.

The students have to complete 400 hours of work at the internship host organisation. There are no taught components at the university. The host organisation may provide training to the interns as part of their orientation or internship.

The assessments cover both the project as well as the students' internship experience. The assessment encompass 4 written 2-page writeups about the project and experience, a final report and also a presentation to both industry mentors and academic supervisor.
